The many topics added in this new edition include incorporating agile values, scaling agile projects, release planning, portfolio governance, and enhancing organizational agility. Project and business leaders will especially appreciate Highsmiths new coverage of promoting agility through performance measurements based on value, quality, and constraints. This book explains how agile methods can be applied to all kinds of product development, extending from the classical system development application to a more general product spectrum. Considering the rapid economic changes and technological innovations, Highsmith argues that being able to change and adapt are core competencies on the road to reliable results. People involved in project management at all levels are the target audience of the book, but the content is best suited for experienced project managers who can really see the advantages of using agile practices. Highsmith discusses the values and principles of the agile approach, without using complicated technical or scientific jargon. This second edition provides an in-depth comparison between features of classical project management and issues of agile practices. For this reason, the book is a worthwhile read for those who seek a comprehensive description of agile frameworks and practices, in order to deal with uncertainty, change, and opportunities in product development. The book offers readers a new perspective on managing development projects, as well as a new way of managing their organizations. The principles and practices presented could easily become part of the philosophy of an organization. Online Computing Reviews Service
