Abstract
This first issue of the FIB may be considered a "trial balloon" as to its contents. While it does not contain a large amount of information, I have tried to gather a number of items which I feel might be of interest to you, the readers. I hope to get some feed- back about the material in this first issue, particularly with regard to desirable and undesirable features.Since the FIB was announced only a short time ago, I have not yet received many contributions. I hope that this will improve after you see this first, albeit skimpy, issue, since the frequency and content of the future issues will depend entirely on contributions from the readership.I have started to establish contact with a fairly sizable number of users groups in the hope that they will contribute to the FIB either through their membership or directly by permission to reprint or abstract their minutes. As an example of this kind of contribution see the report from the SHARE FORTRAN Project in this issue. (Incidentally, what is the accepted way of writing, FORTRAN or Fortran?)
