Can the information systems (IS) discipline be considered a reference discipline, similar to computer science, management sciences, and organization science__?__ That is the question addressed in this article. The authors' investigation is based on citation analysis, and the conclusion is positive. The authors refer to six major journals in IS: Communications of the ACM , European Journal of Information Systems , Information Systems Journal , Information Systems Research , Information and Management , and MIS Quarterly . A major drawback of the article is the fact that the authors did not explain the investigation method they used: there are some references, but not a clear description of the methodology. For this reason, the conclusion is not very clear, and even the authors do not support it clearly. Online Computing Reviews Service
