ABSTRACT
Documents produced in the past usually exist in multiple versions. There is an inherent difficulty in recording and visualising variation between different versions, which is inhibiting efforts to make literature available online. This paper describes a novel document structure, which accurately records variations and facilitates their visualisation.

A graphical user interface for the retrieval of hierarchically structured documents
Past research has proved that graphical user interfaces (GUIs) can significantly improve the effectiveness of the information access task. Our work is based on the consideration that structured document retrieval requires different user graphical ...
A user interface for online assistance
ICSE '81: Proceedings of the 5th international conference on Software engineeringThis paper describes a software user interface that enables programmers to provide and maintain online aids in an interactive system. Through the interface, users are given a set of consistent and unobtrusive aids that display summary information, ...
Building a user-derived interface
Many human-computer interfaces are designed with the assumption that the user must adapt to the system, that users must be trained and their behavior altered to fit a given interface. The research presented here proceeds from the alternative assumption: ...
